My artwork contains objects and installations that capture memories, dreams and life experiences. Making the invisible visible: I express myself using body impressions, X-ray images, human gestures, flora and fauna references and technology.
My inspiration alongside my interest and exploration of the material I choose to work with is my departure point.Glass is my main material. I find glass fascinating due to its various qualities: fragility and strength, translucency and transparency versus its ability to be opaque, its solid mode which is completely different from its liquid mode.
Glass is an indispensable substance which plays a major role in our lives: We all have glass in our house – it allows us either to see inside or look outside; in a similar way, I reflect inner views, thoughts and ideas outward using cast glass and Pâte de Verre.
Most of my pieces are "One Off" (One of a Kind). Each is made by myself from beginning to end: starting with the idea through hands on making of the model and the mould and up to firing and polishing.
The encounter of traditional work process with up-to-date making, which is based on ancient techniques, highlights my artistic body of work.
Hiyuli Liberman owns a Master of Arts (M.A in Arts) in glass, with distinction, from the University of Sunderland, UK and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A) from Bezalel Academy of Art & Design, Jerusalem.
