The Hippocampus Project is a series of variable objects.
The hippocampus is part of the limbic system, and it plays an important role in the consolidation of information from short-term memory to long-term memory, and also in spatial memory that enables navigation.
It resembles a seahorse* (fish).
The name hippocampus comes from the Greek word for seahorse. The Greek scholars, and later Roman and medieval scholars, named bones, organs and muscles after what they looked like. Humans and some mammals have two hippocampi, one in each hemisphere of the brain.Since the Hippocampus is a part of the brain involved in emotion and memory – something we are unable to see and the Seahorse is a small and intriguing sea creature I decided to refer to both of them in this project.
*A seahorse is any of 46 species of small marine fish in the genus Hippocampus. Híppos (ἵππος) meaning "horse" and kámpos (κάμπος) meaning "sea monster “
